WGC Youth U18 vs Tottenhall
Another Strong Performance from the U18s
Welwyn Garden City Youth Under 18's faced Tottenhall at Sir Fredric Osbourne hoping for a repeat of there clash earlier in the season where Welwyn were victorious.
The game started with an electric pace, with Welwyn dominating the early stages. Harrison on the right wing was causing lots of problems for Tottenhall's left back and his link up play with Ollie S was excellent.
Before long the Harrison and Ollie duo struck the first blow with a nice interchange on the edge of the box with Ollie laying the ball through for Harrison to slip the ball underneath the on coming keeper.
Welwyn kept the pressure on their opponents and were rewarded mid way through the first half with a potential goal of the season from Ollie Smith as he controlled the ball on his thigh and fired a volley into the top right corner from 25 yards.
Towards the end of the first half Tottenhall pulled a goal back as the defence was caught napping.
The second half started in a similar way to the first with Welwyn taking the game to Tottenhall. Welwyn created several great chances hitting the woodwork twice but unable to find the back off the net.
Tottenhall's game had begun to be a lot more physical and Welwyn battled hard to maintain their lead with the defensive duo of Ollie West and Dom making some excellent challenges.
Mid way through the second half and against the run of play Tottenhall got their equaliser.
The rest of the game continued with Welwyn being the dominant team but unable to capitalise on their dominance.
Shortly before the end of the match Callum made another darting run from right back but was hauled to the ground resulting in an injury that will see him out for the remainder of the season.
Some great football by all And a great attitude to the game. Welwyn continue to impress with their development.
